I just finished a choir of owls when two soloists dressed in Christmas red jacket join us to wish you a Merry Christmas.

This year the question is "How do you spend Christmas Eve?" Do you have a special meal, any family traditions? Does your country, culture or religion do anything interesting?
I choose to tell you about a tradition from South of France "Provence" (early 20th century/début XXe)
Ils sont servis la veille de Noël à la fin du "gros souper",
The thirteen desserts are the traditional dessert foods used in celebrating Christmas in the French region of Provence. The "big supper" ends with a ritual 13 desserts. The food traditionally is set out Christmas Eve and remains on the table three days until December 27.
les Quatre mendiants, représentant les ordres religieux ayant fait vœux de pauvreté (4) noisettes/noix pour les Augustins / figues sèches pour les Franciscains,
amandes pour les Carmes / raisins secs pour les Dominicains,
The "four beggars" representing the four mendicant monastic orders:
Raisins (Dominicans) Walnuts or hazelnuts (Augustines) Dried figs (Franciscans) Almonds (Carmelites)

Two kinds of nougat, symbolizing good and evil : Black nougat with honey, a hard candy made with honey and almonds / White nougat, a soft candy made with sugar, eggs, pistachios, honey and almond. a sweet cake or brioche made with orange flower water and olive oil.

This is an internet pic but I hope this year for Christmas that I'll post my own "13 desserts" show even if I'm far from Provence.

We just came back from some holidays so TAC "E" will be post in a few days, then some pics of our trip and at least the re-discovery of decorations to finally give to this home a Christmas look, so I hope to have your visit in the next days.

I love your snowy owls, especially the handsome soloists! The treize desserts sound fabulous. What a great tradition!
