Junk Journal creators use a lot of different types of paper and everyday life recycled objets as bags, envelops, magazines, old books, invoices, musical scores, agendas... and maps!
And... I'm a big fan of maps. In my twenties I order some maps 1:50000 scale, I didn't use them a lot so they are in good shape waiting for other lifes!
I already thought of making cards, envelops, fans, using them for watercolor or ink painting.
Today, one will join my JJ and I have chosen it because there is a small place called "couture" which means sewing and I'm making a signpost to show the good roads to DIY.
Funny to play with tiny stamps (from my childhood).
Un panneau indicateur viendra trouver sa place bientôt dans mon journal histoire de ne pas perdre ma route ! L'occasion de jouer avec les tampons de mon enfance et mes anciennes cartes IGN au 1:50000 de la région. Un lieu-dit nommé "couture" près de la commune de Mer sera parfait pour illustrer mon thème.
Dans la même zone, j'ai trouvé "les hauts talons" et enfin dernier clin d'oeil au blog, la ville de Josnes qui a été la 3ème étape du Tour de France en juin 2021 dédié aux couleurs.
My goddaughter has offered me this book of stickers. I have found some old looks car, boat, plane... I thought funny to add.
There is another place named "high heels"!
And there is a funny sign from my 3rd Tour de France about colors as the 3rd step led us in June 2021 to the town of Josnes (jaune = yellow) and it is in this aera.
I have also tested the folded paper ribbon of Natasha from the Treasure Books. Made with folded book pages strips. Glued and with a nice blue washi tape, she advises to sew it in the middle, we'll see -as my sewing machine is making a weird noise again!-.

A little story now...
On my paternal side of the family I only knew one uncle (my father older brother) my grand parents died during WW2 and houses were ruined by the bombing (they lived in Ardennes aera). When I was 20 I started some genealogic searchs and spent some holidays visiting archives to collect some informations.
No computers at the time only sometimes photocopiers and most often your papers and pencils. But I built a "tree", the main branch of the family tree, lucky in a place which have seen so many wars!
Last month my grandson told me he was studiyng the French Revolution and I thought I'd liked to find some of his ancestors and give him names living during that old time.
So I went back to my files and decided to check on online archives to print some documents proof of a 18th family. One among his about 500 ancestors living around 1789.
I followed my notes and found most of the birth, marriage and death certificates and printed them. Of course, reading those registers you can see the life of the village, most of my ancestors were farmers, laborers but I also found some weavers and spinners. A lot of infant deaths too and one day I crossed the way of Marie Anne Armandine a young spinner dead at only 15 years old in 1840. I thought I could pay tribute welcoming her in my sewing JJ.
I had those pages from a cooking book with flowers, I'll add some pink lace to match or a small embroidery on the left side.
Du côté paternel de ma famille je n'ai connu qu'un oncle (frère ainé de mon père) mes grands parents étant morts pendant la seconde guerre mondiale et les maisons détruites par les bombardements (ils vivaient dans les Ardennes).Quand j'ai eu 20 ans, je suis allée pendant des vacances faire des recherches généalogiques aux archives départementales.
Pas d'ordinateur à l'époque, quelquefois un photocopieur et le plus souvent papiers et crayons. Mais j'ai réussi à construire un arbre généalogique autour de la branche principale, la plupart cultivateurs.
Le mois dernier mon petit fils m'a dit qu'il étudiait la Révolution Française au collège et j'ai eu envie de lui donner le nom d'une famille du 18ème siècle parmi ses ancêtres.
J'ai donc rouvert mes dossiers et repris la consultation des archives numérisées pour lui imprimer des documents donnant vie à une famille vivant dans les années 1789 (parmi ses 500 ancêtres ).
En lisant ces registres, en recherchant tous les certificats de naissance, de mariage et de décès, j'ai vu toute la vie d'un village et bien sûr beaucoup de mortalité infantile. Jusqu'à ce que je croise le chemin de Marie Anne Armandine, fileuse de la famille, morte à seulement 15 ans en 1840. J'ai pensé lui rendre hommage en l'accueillant dans mon JJ.
En utilisant pour cela une page récupérée dans un livre de cuisine, je pense ajouter sur le côté gauche une jolie dentelle rose ou une broderie.
