Time for a post about wool.

TRICOT

I have started the knitting of a scarf in stockinette stitches with the angora wool I bought during our visit to Sandrine's farm.

CROCHET

After seeing on the Internet lovely summer dresses associating fabric and crochet I wanted to try it and use some fabric in my stash.

As I wasn't sure I could wash it together I decided to make some kind of detachable top or collar (no pattern so kind of bespoke garments).

I have 3 WIP :

A / one big collar crocheted in a recycled plastic yarn - pattern not ready yet  - to use on a very long skirt becomin a dress ;

B / one top with straps from small crocheted squares - wip ;

C / one top with 8 petals crocheted flowers - wip.

A /

I chose the 8 crocheted petal flowers to change after the hexagons I made for DD3 and because of the color of the wool from yellow beige to green which I think is looking great on a fabric from Bassetti.

I'm trying some different assembly process! First like strips, now I'm testing something else around the shape of the neckline. Il already have more than 50 flowers and will keep some yearn for some stitches between them. We'll see!

FULLY FINISHED GALLERY 01/25

It's the 10th of this month and Rachel from "Ten Hour Stitcher" welcome us and our Fully Finished achievements.

Please visit her blog and see all the finished projects of our stitching friends.

https://tenhourstitcher.blogspot.com/2025/01/link-up-for-fully-finished-gallery-sal.html

First finish of the month a new snood.

During our holidays in Alsace, we visited Ste Marie aux Mines and went to a wool shop of Mme Leromain (in a hangar). Unable to leave it without new wools, I bought a bag of 10 balls, black with some silver thinking of a new crocheted jacket for DD1. The thread is of uneven thickness not good for granny squares. So I changed my mind and remembered I needed a new snood.

Easy to knit with number 7 needles, jersey stitches.

Opening boxes for my Christmas, I found some old felt hearts from a long time ago. One was so close to a finish only a few stitches missing. What a shame!

Then another one needed some repairs on the wooden fence. Also only  took a few minutes and it's ok.

Some minutes later, it was fully filled, fully finished with chain stitches and happy to join its friends.

I'll add this month a "fully transformed look"! I bought years ago this "star Santa" but always thought that his beard was much looking to a bib than a real beard. And every year he went back to his box without visiting the hairdresser. Well it looks like these first days of this new year I'm pretty determined so I took some braided white cord I used for the gnome hair and sewed it!

What do you think?

Look more handsome to me!

I'll be back soon with a post about cooking, after the bûche au chocolat and the galettes for Epiphany -made by my local pastry chef- it was time to be back in the kitchen by myself!

Time for a homemade kugelhof!

It was delicious and Fully Finished (= totally eaten).

We had this week a lovely pink sunrise matching perfectly with my outside table wreath!

WIPOCALYPSE 05/23

Time to share with Melissa and the Wipocalypse family the projects we want to complete before the end of the world.

On FB or  https://measi.net/

May month was totally different from what I expected so...

Lot of works in the house, my cousin visit, two days trip and many health issues so the planned projects stay in the basket.

The result is here, a new dining room, a nice family reunion, a great visit in Beauval and a "take each day as its comes and do your best".

Point de croix / Cross stitching

Only some stitches on the Lady and the unicorn.

Scrapbooking  / Cartonnage

April and May have been full focused on Pierre birth book.

First I thought the birth was for the end of April
so I cut the month and year and stuck them on the page
then I found back the sms announcing it for May
I was ready to throw away the cuttings
when I remembered it could be an early baby
so I kept April and cut May!

Tricot-crochet  /  Knitting

I'm still making tests to find the right shape for the squares I want to crochet for a woolen jacket for DD1.

Crochet 3 and 4, the 6 is too difficult to use with this wool and doesn't look good. I haven't find a 5 in my stash so I think we'll be ok with a 4.

Hexagones : no progress.

Cats : the squares are different, it's a base on which you sew a crocheted cat. Great tuto on YouTube, stupid choice of black wool for a first test... But with some training I know they will look great.

Felt  / Feutrine

Desert set for Capucine is on the menu : finishing the pyramids, drawing animals patterns and cutting felt, making one palmtree.

Camels  (from N. Lafitte patterns),
ostrich, porcupine (inspired by LadyBug on Chamomile)
 in progress

Sloth waiting for stuffing and a small branche

Palmtree trunk and coconuts, branches waiting for cutting.

Gardening  /  Jardinage

Lot of weed control in the garden and as I'm restoring the swing, I'm trying to make a new seat by crossing strips cut in old jeans.

Tour de France  Jeu 5

Since last month post, we have sailed to Corsica Island then reached the Camargue and be back on river Saône.

For this 12th stage, four members of the crew are already staying at Saint...

Toki is really close, so we'll wait for her a little longer. Because of the time difference, this Sunday solution post could become a Monday post!

Topic of the month :  What project brings you the most joy and why?

It's my felt projects, because it is something I make as gifts for Capucine and Soline and the kids are very enthusiastic. Felt is easy to work with even it's kind of fragile you can most often find a way to sew it in the shape you need.

It's challenging too, the best part of the work has always been the time spent on thinking, drawing and creating the animals or characters, then I have to face reality and pull out my magic wand (needle!).

BOO!

Can I have another FFG post? This spring have been busy (and still is) so many WIP found an happy end recently! So it's time to share a small story with you about... knitting.

Once upon a time... there was a white shawl sleeping in a closet and therefore a wool that could be used for another project.

Once upon a time... a knitter who wanted to rediscover the pleasure of knitting by making small, simple squares in jersey stitch.

Once the wool was unknitted and washed, the pattern chosen by DD3 and some black, pink, white and blue wool bought...  it was time to face reality and numbers!  73 squares from the shawl, that leaves me 251 squares to knit.

21 pink  /  56 black/noir  /  127 white/blanc  /  120 pale blue/purple

Some WIP pictures

Two crocheted ranks in blue all around the cover

New bed cover!
