Département 58 Nièvre
The town name is : Nevers sounding like never
Rappel des indices / Some explanations about the clues
Our first guide was Mr Isaac Newton, hopefully the number 58 was giving me a clue as the total of the 7 first prime numbers and Mr Newton was the perfect guy to show it. 2 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 11+ 13 +17 = 58
I recently discover Mary Anning, reading Tracy Chevalier novel "Remarkable creatures", so she was welcome to be part of my guests.
Mme Tussaud is French, born in Strasbourg in 1761 and it was a great fun visiting the famous London Museum in 1979.
In this aera, we are in Bourgogne Franche-Comté
Nevers is only 15 km to Magny-Cours car race circuit you might have heard of.
Never in some stitchings...
Meaning in French : jamais
marie suarez Qu'il est doux de broder, sans même y songer, complice du temps qui passe, et jamais ne se lasse. |

The name of Nevers for us can be linked to "the Duke of Nevers" (1516-1561 - Reign of François 1er)
and a very popular fictional character from the novel "Le Bossu - le roman de Lagardère" de Paul Feval
well known for his fencing skill and what we call "la botte de Nevers"
a fencing attack only known by him.
During our last trip to Sélestat we sadly didn't have the time to visit the exhibition of the Humanist Library "On Guard!"
Please be back on next Tuesday with... Harry
(bring your magic wand).
A mardi prochain !
Newton’s knitted toy is super cute.😆
RépondreSupprimerI love never’s blue post and decorated feathers.
This is the first time I learned about Marry Anning. I think it was time when it was very difficult for women to succeed.
I watched fencing live on TV at the Olympics in Paris. The form was very beautiful.🙌 Thank you for introducing so many photos.😄
I missed this stage as we are on holiday, we've stayed in Nevers.
RépondreSupprimerLove the little Mary Annings doll costume.
RépondreSupprimerI had no idea Mme Tussaud was from Strassbourg! I always learn something from these posts...and usually see a project or two to add to the to do list as well ;)
