More crochet/knitting

I have tested the Nanny squares for slippers but the stitch is too loose and I'll have to uncrochet and begin again.

I have also started some small squares for a top or the collar for a summer dress.

Plus de crochet...    mon premier essai de chausson en carrés crochetés est plutôt raté, le point est trop lâche et les carrés trop grands. Donc à tricoter !

Five birthday cards are in progress...   One for Pierre 2nd birthday, a wardrobe for DD1, a vintage record player for a friend, a "find the hidden candles" for Capucine and two new themes (a spiral and a cooking theme) for a friend and Timothé.

Date and name have been added and some small envelopes

Côté papiers et ciseaux, j'ai presque terminé l'album de naissance et j'avance également sur les cinq prochaines cartes d'anniversaire.

Pliages et découpages également dans le Junk Journal on en reparle jeudi prochain.

With some sun's rays in the garden, I mostly weed the flowers beds.

Good news, my anemones are out of ground but nothing from the seeds we sowed with Capucine.

Climbing plants are ok, I'm trying to use a dead shrub as a stake for plantes.

The question of the month is about fabric

I haven't bought big pieces of fabric -linen or aïda- recently, actually I'm working on a kit so the fabric was given with the pattern, a lovely burgundy aïda 7 which means I can't stitch without the help of a magnifying lamp! I'm also stitching on perforated paper -with some troubles when it's with a metallic thread.

I hope I'll find new ideas to use some colored linen in my stash.

I do have bought last year some small pieces of Jobelan 12 printed fabric online from Filanthrope Broderie, I'll to find the perfect pattern to stitch on.

Rachel is hosting the Smalls SAL, on the last Friday of the month everyone is encourage to post about small stitchings and I'd love to join this SAL regularly adding sometimes my small DIY.

I'm back on Nanny squares, small one this time. I have this big ball of wool and want to crochet squares I could sew to probably make a collar for a summer dress.

J'avais dans mon stock cette jolie laine et très envie de retrouver mes carrés crochetés. Cette fois je tente de mini carrés de cinq centimètres de côté pour un assemblage dans le but de confectionner un col pour une robe d'été !

Quelques petits découpages, maintenant que la date de naissance et le nom du bébé sont connus, pour compléter l'album de naissance.

One birthday card in April so I'm back on my wardrobe card you have seen in previous posts

and I'm already thinking of two new cards for my grandchildren

(I still have time but sometimes when I got an idea I can't wait to test it)

Timothé is thinking of his future career maybe in catering/cooking

so I'll keep this theme for him

and I want to use the idea of candles hidden in a decor for Capucine

as was Soline's card last December

It could be a house and a barn, with flowers and a pile of wood

I have to think about nine places where I could hide small candles

J'ai également déjà réfléchi à deux nouveaux modèles pour mes loulous

Timothé envisageant une carrière dans la restauration/cuisine

je vais garder ce thème

Pour Capucine, je veux utiliser l'idée mise au point pour l'anniversaire

de Soline fin décembre, en cachant neuf bougies dans un décor.

J'ai largement le temps mais quelquefois quand l'idée me trotte dans la tête je ne peux pas attendre pour la tester. Il faut battre le fer tant qu'il est chaud et mes premiers essais orientent mon choix vers

une maison avec sa grange, une barrière fleurie et un tas de bois.

I have made a bag for the dominoes in an old white sheet and sewed two stripes of the fabric with ladybirds I have used for the back of the dominoes and added green wood beads on a string to close it.

The bib is done too, now we were only waiting for the baby!

And the baby came... on the FFG post April 10th

It's a boy and his name is Hector

so I can now finish the birth page in the baby album

qui est né le 10 avril dernier et se prénomme Hector

donc retour très bientôt à la finition de l'album de naissance

I have finished the metallic brown on the skirt of Spirit of Christmas Carols  (DD3 gift)

which is a relief as the thread was cutting the cardboard

Le fil métallique est terminé sur la jupe du SCC ce qui est un soulagement car il coupait le carton.

VER SUR MER

Today I want to share our visit to the British Memorial in Ver sur Mer.

It was inaugurated in 2019 near to the D-Day beaches.

Since a few days it welcomes again an exhibition "Standing with giants".

Nous avons découvert le mémorial britannique inauguré en 2019 ainsi que l'installation des Géants près des plages du débarquement.

CABOURG

After an early start on Wednesday morning, we broke down 60 km from home, wait for a tow truck, let the car in a garage and went back home in a taxi! Second start after a quick lunch and we are finally in Normandy for a few days of "kite holidays".

We were lucky to rent near to the sea so the seashore is really close and in a few minutes we are on the beach.

We are going to share our days according to the tide times (and the wind) between kites and visits.

Many stud farms in this aera so harnessed trotting horses come every day on the beach.

Après quelques péripéties, nous sommes bien installés à Cabourg, tout près de plage avec un accès rapide et allons partager nos journées entre les cerfs-volants et les visites.

Beuvron sur Auge, lovely small village

Visite de Beuvron sur Auge, joli village du bocage normand, avec ses maisons à colombages.

Et de drôles d'habitants nichés dans les luminaires.

Visite de la boutique "l'âne bleu", vrai caverne d'Ali Baba qui vend principalement des écharpes.
