STAGE / ETAPE 4/1

For those who are new, remember France is divided into departments. This map is there to help you and the number is given in the riddle + clues to guide you today and on Thursday. We have left Cherbourg (50) and are sailing on the sea/ocean to reach our next stop.

Fair winds and following seas!

WIPOCALYPSE 03/23

Time to share with Melissa and the Wipocalypse family the projects we want to complete before the end of the world.

On FB or  https://measi.net/

Point de croix / Cross stitching

Tricot  /  Knitting

BOO  wool cover  :  324 squares knitted and sewed!

I'm making two ranks with a single crochet stitche to make the outline more regular.

Felt  /  Feutrine

De la plage au désert  /  From beach to desert

Tour de France  5

The big departure has taken place on March 7th, we have sailed from Le Touquet to Le Havre, then to Cherbourg, tomorrow we'll leave to join the fourth stage harbour.

March topic : Tell us about your favorite places to buy stitching supplies.

We don't have a lot of shops here, so once a year I wait for the DIY fair, crossing my fingers they will have what I need and some surprises for crafts.

Before spending some holidays in other departments I always check shops for supplies, the last one was "Danie styl" in Aubigny sur Nère last February! (A funny idea would be to make a French map of all those shops!).

I do order some felt or papers on the internet and buy sometimes in Cultura shop or Brode 41 (for cross stitching), Mondial Tissus (for sewing).

ETAPE / STAGE 3/3

Here we are in Cherbourg, in the north of the Cotentin peninsula in lower Normandy, department 50 of the Manche (waves from step 1).

Coriallum is a latin name for Cherbourg.

Robert Surcouf, privateer 1773-1827

Jardin privé - Quaker de Normandie

En naviguant vers l'ouest, nous rejoindrons / Sailing to west we'll reach
le Mont st Michel, St Malo, St Servin, St Cast et Dinard.

I have found this lovely cover for an health booklet for a cat named Surcouf!

The town is linked to umbrellas for us because of the musical movie "the umbrellas of Cherbourg".

When I was listening radio on evenings (before I got a TV!), it was fun and poetic to listen to the marine weather with all those enigmatic names : Hebrides, Dogger, Fisher, Vicking...

Famous French Singer Georges Brassens song's  stitched by Marie Libellule.

I have chosen octopussy to illustrate this step

Now let me show you those amazing boats made with pearls...

Some kites in Dieppe sky or how a octopussy can eat a cow.
