CAPTAIN CROCHET

Crochet is back in fashion and I recently had the urge to start some new projects after finishing the blanket in knitted squares. Practical to do in the car, here I am, after consulting my daughters customers, at the head of three projects.

Une veste faite de carrés assemblés.

Granny squares jacket for DD1

I bought 10 balls of a white/eggshell wool.

I need 24 squares

I need to do fittings with DD1 to check the width and possibly add intermediate rows on the sides.

Then I'll need to finish the edge with a special stitch left to right as for the sleeves already done.

Granny squares flowers hexagones

That is the pattern DD3 chose
expecting I could make a pullover
inspired by this picture!

I'm between two feelings, she overestimates
my ability to make something like that and
I underestimate my ability to make progress
in crochet!

Anyway, I need at least 35 to 40 flowers
because learning how I could sew them
together and how I could crochet this other
half of the pullover!

I have mixed five colors together for those eight first flowers.

Très joli modèle et original avec cela, les deux techniques me sont connues mais de là à relever ce défi...
En attendant gardons foi en mes capacités et comme je dois crocheter une quarantaine d'hexagones pour la moitié fleurie commençons par cela.

Cat theme granny squares cushion

So many granny squares pattern, I love sunflowers a lot but I need first before buying new wool to empty my old wool bags.

I have to make small squares as backgrounds with sometimes changing colors by ranks

or makings a kind of landscape, with 1/3 ground and 2/3 sky.

I have seen some patterns on the net but impossible to find them back!? It's close to this one.

The green is for grass in the foreground,
white for some snow landscape,
grey could become a roof,
yellow/grey could be sand and beach

Then you crochet little wool cats and sew them.

At the end you have to gather them all for a cushion.

Taking the time to do them properly focused on the pattern explanations found on YT with nice stitch to get a cute shape with tail and ears well done.

I'm happy to introduce you a white, a black, a grey kittens.

I plan to do some striped cousins too.

Different kinds of wool mean that I have to crochet different number of ranks to give them all the same size probably in white wool to add some light to the set.

  1. The cat pillow is adorable! Are you crocheting your squares together or sewing them together for the coat? I had one years ago...saying that is telling my age for sure, lol.

    1. I use a hook to put them together, it's very easy, you only have to pull the wool through the loops on the edge of the two squares you want to assembly.
