My current cross stitching is the Lady with the Unicorn.

No big progress but I can assure you that I have added more colors in the tree and the flowers.

Pas de progrès spectaculaire mais quelques touches de couleurs en plus parmi les fleurs et les feuillages.

Cela fait quelque temps que je n'ai pas donné de nouvelles de mon gnome joueur de cornemuse. L'ajout des cheveux lui donne maintenant une belle tignasse, reste à la tresser puis à fixer son béret et le ruban qui doit faire la finition.

Je vais bientôt m'attaquer aux accessoires, tout d'abord la cornemuse...

Avec des protège coudes de mon stock, j'ai découpé et cousu une forme pour le sac. J'ai réussi à le retourner et suis contente du résultat, voici une photo avec les morceaux de bois qui devront être ajusté au plus près de la réalité.

Some news from my gnome in progress... More orange-red cord make the hair look better, I still have to make braids, to tie the beret and sew the ribbon for a nice finish.

In two old elbow pads, I have cut the shape of the bag, sewed them together and successfully flip the bag.

Here is a picture with some small pieces of wood I hope I'll be able to make look close to reality.

Tour de France 6ème édition : Demain départ de la 11ème étape !

Tomorrow will start the 11th stage, we have already travelled West and South of the country visiting : Allones, Rennes, Monnaie, Melle, Toulouse, Grasse, Nice, Cannes, Crest and Gipcy...

Each Olympic year I like to "use" the Wipolympic theme to boost (without any illegal substance) my stitching and DIY. Starting with the initial period of the opening ceremony of the OG then with an extra time with the paralympics. 

I had a great time with Paris 2024 in July and some challenges were done but as our holidays in Alsace were during the paralympics my WIP didn't turn out as planned.

I brought a new stitching with me but the choice of variated DMC thread was wrong on the white fabric, not enough contrast.

So I only sewed some patchwork during the travel in the car and I must say that it was easier than I thought it would be, which is a good news for future trips.

The bad news is, that back home I could't remember where I put the plastic pocket folder with the cutting patterns and the fabric I cut for more dog ears, noses and eyes...

Petit retour sur les Wipolympics, après de super jeux en Juillet avec de forts honorables résultats, les paralympics se sont déroulés en Septembre et notre séjour en Alsace ne m'a pas permis d'avancer dans mes projets comme prévu. Mauvais choix de couleur pour le motif en point arrière, pas assez de contraste.

Seule bonne nouvelle j'ai pu coudre en voiture pendant le trajet et j'ai fini une pièce de patchwork. La mauvaise nouvelle étant que depuis notre retour je suis incapable de retrouver la pochette dans laquelle j'ai rangé les pièces de tissus pour les nez, yeux et oreilles ainsi que les patrons !

I remember having learn the chain point in school during the craft lesson in college 6th or 5th when I was 11 years old (Year 7 or 8 for UK);

We made a square doily with red and green embroidery for our mums with the teacher then a knotted cushion with a special knot hook for the short wool stands and later we made a fur toy (mine was a small dog probably the only one looking like a dog, it was quite a challenge to sew fur for us and after turning it inside out to guess what it was supposed to be). It gave me confidence for the rest of my life and probably disgusted other students forever.

My Mum probably teached me the classic stitches like the festoon stitch and my curiosity did the rest, discovering Richelieu embrodery or embroidering table linen.

I was never interested by cross stitch until I saw my Mum made some when she retired. She showed me and it gave me an idea for my first daughter christening to stitch guests initiales. I never stopped since!

Le sujet du mois est : "Comment avez-vous appris à broder"

Je me rappelle des cours de travaux manuels au collège en 6ème ou 5ème. Notre professeur nous a fait broder un napperon au point de chaînette en rouge et vert. Puis nous avons réalisé un coussin au point noué avec ce crochet particulier pour attacher les brins de laine sur la toile ensuite nous avons fabriqué une peluche. La mienne était un petit chien, ce fût une vrai réussite. C'était très ambitieux de nous faire coudre sur l'envers de la fourrure et les résultats furent très inégaux, difficile de reconnaître la plupart des animaux. Cela m'a donné de la confiance pour le reste de ma vie et a très certainement dégouté à jamais une grande partie des élèves.

Maman m'a probablement appris les points classiques comme le point de feston, ma curiosité a fait le reste, découvrant la broderie Richelieu ou brodant le linge de table.

Le point de croix ne m'a jamais intéressé jusqu'au jour où j'ai vu ma mère à la retraite réaliser de petits ouvrages, elle m'a montré et cela m'a donné l'idée de broder les initiales des invités pour le baptême de ma première fille. Je n'ai jamais cessé depuis !
