Département 27 Eure
New department visited!
Hello ladies! First I want to tell you how happy I am to welcome you on this Tour de France, it was so great to find your comments and mails for this first stage. Thanks for participating and add your own questions, knowledge and informations.
And now let's go and have a look around...
The town name is : Château Gaillard les Andelys
Rappel des indices / Some explanations about the clues
Our guides were the characters of Robin Hood Disney movie.
They already participated in the "Games/Toys" themed Tour de France in 2019.
All the drawings were used for the Monte Carlo stage (I'm recycling... an eco-friendly tour ;)
The story was perfect for this first introduction stage as we shared with our English Friends a lot of history and territories during the Medieval time.
1/ the minstrel Alan-a-Dale was giving the clue about the department number. Adding 7 (th edition) to 17 (stages) and to 3 (three numbers) gave you 27 and another one with "hour" which means "heure" in French which is the homonym word for "Eure" the department name.
A la bonne heure meaning something like : good news here.
2/ Prince John was talking about his brother Richard who gave the order to build the castle of Château Gaillard overlooking the river Seine (1198). The quote is from Richard after only one year of construction.
I have chosen this place as the first stage because of the place of Richard Heart of Lion, his parents and brothers in our history.
As a little nod to the Plantagenet family, some stitchings and crafts about their members.
Aliénor d'Aquitaine (1124 - 1204 Queen of France then Queen of England) mother of Richard
Aliénor, Eleonore, Eleanor... one of my favorite firstnames
Alienor on Salisbury St Lawrence Church kneeler
We visited Fontevraud Abbey some years ago, here are some pictures of the recombend effigy tombs of Richard and Isabelle d'Angoulême
Let's discover an embroiderer in Indre et Loire : Marie Sirgue with a big project about Alienor d'Aquitaine she shared with an Ukrainian embroiderer Margo Nirod refugiee in Touraine.
The name "Plantagenêt" came from the flower "genêt" cytisus scoparius
The special shoe horn today is ... lion (Lionheart)
amigurimi made by my cousin Frédérique

Well done to all of you...
Tomorrow we'll move to a place closer to me...
Demain nous nous rapprocherons de chez moi...
See you soon!
A demain !
