As on preview posts, I have imagined a scenario for those mensual posts
as the creators of this new event offers us a quite total liberty to how develop them.

My own way will go into worlds of stitching, words, drawings, designs, garden, cooking, music and travels

Evocation of  a word begining with the letter linked to DIY activities
and personal researches on what you could find in my garden, in my kitchen, on my record player (the vinyl one), in my travel souvenirs

Making some researches on internet for my Singer sewing machine I found on Youtube  this amazing video,

interesting explanations and I'm a great fan of demonstration starting on 5mn37, can't help laughing.

En traînant sur la toile à la recherche d'informations sur les machines à coudre Singer, j'ai trouvé cette vidéo sur Youtube, délirante, je vous conseille particulièrement la démonstration qui commence à 5mn 37 du reportage, hilarant !

M  comme   Modiste   (milliner)

En France, Sainte Catherine est la patronne des modistes. Les jeunes femmes âgées de 25 ans non mariées qui travaillent dans l'industrie du vêtement sont surnommées « catherinettes ». Le 25 novembre, jour de la Sainte Catherine, elles se doivent de porter un chapeau souvent « farfelu », fabriqué par leurs amies, aux couleurs de l'espérance et la connaissance : vert et jaune.

In France, Ste Catherine is the patron saint of modistes. Young women not married at 25 years old who works in sewing factories are named "catherinettes". On November 25th, St Catherine's day, they wear a funny hat made by friends. Must be in green and yellow colors, featuring hope and knowledge.

M  comme  marionnettes

I have a "castelet"  puppet booth    to renovate, I'd like to sew new red velvet curtains.

I remembered making puppet in "papier-mâché" during painting class in college,

and in French class during 1rst class of lycée

with a friend we choose puppets for an adaptation of a short story of Guy de Maupassant

making three puppets, writing a theater play and staged it

was and remains an excellent memory.

Notre enseignant de dessin du collège nous ayant appris la technique du papier mâché

pour fabriquer des marionnettes,

j'ai réutilisé cette technique en classe de seconde au lycée

pour un devoir de français sur une adaptation d'une nouvelle de Guy de Maupassant

La fabrication des trois personnages, l'écriture des dialogues et la conception

du spectacle ainsi que sa représentation (bissée)

fût et reste un excellent souvenir. 

M comme mercerie  (shop for notions supplies, haberdashery?)

I have to buy sometimes my thread in a garden shop... :'(  have one chance a year during the DIY fair and have two new small shops, but my last DMC threads went from.....   VIVI shop - Shiinamachi - Toshima - TOKYO ;)

Les merceries sont devenus une espèce protégée, je dois acheter parfois mon fil dans une jardinerie... deux nouvelles boutiques sont toutefois ouvertes sur l'agglomération, mais mes derniers fils DMC viennent tout droit de chez VIVI à TOKYO !
