I have to dedicace this post to Mr Joseph PINCHON
who is the creator of our Bécassine in 1905,
our famous Breton housemaid as cartoon character
parue dans la "semaine de Suzette"

The character Bécassine is a young Breton housemaid, usually depicted wearing a green dress pastiching traditional Breton peasant costume, with lace coiffe and clogs. She is said to come from Finistère, the area most associated with traditional Breton culture. She is usually portrayed without a mouth.

Bécassine is a comic strip and the name of its heroine, appearing for the first time in the first issue of La Semaine de Suzette on February 2, 1905. She is considered the first female protagonist in the history of comics.

Seen as a stereotype and remnant of the contempt with which the Bretons were long seen, she is the typical provincial girl as seen by the more refined city people of Paris, the target audience of the young girls' magazine La Semaine de Suzette. But over the course of the stories, and coupled with the success she has, she is depicted more and more favourably. "Bécassine" is a nickname, derived from the French word for a number of birds of the family of the snipe, which is also used as a way of saying "fool" in French.

Before  leaving far west (our Brittany), thanks to the six ladies who came with me in this first part of the journey. A very young hand will draw two names and some surprises will be sent in the next days.  Special post tomorrow.

Ensuite nous nous rendrons à la gare pour rejoindre une province peuplée de petits animaux bien sympathiques.

I have spent most of my free time in drawing, painting, photographing, writing clues and organizing posts.

Topic for the month :
Which specialty stitches do you love doing on projects? which do you dread?

Most of time I do cross stitch but for some special project I already made  hardanger, satin stitch, buttonhole stitch, fishbone stitch, couching stitch.


I have discovered "le point de Bayeux" which is special, I have loved to stitch it and want to do it again,

first you have to stitch outlines,

 then you fill with differents sorts of point

 My first work was a horseman
from the Tapestry of Bayeux
but I would like to try some modern patterns maybe a celtic one.

Metallic threads are my nightmares
and this month I used a DMC blue 320





I have tried to do "boutis" too
and it is very hard for me
so not finished.

Aled Lewis, un designer londonien, a voulu raconter l’histoire de Star Wars sur une tapisserie brodée, comme de celle de Bayeux qui décrit, sur 68 mètres de tissu, les faits relatifs à la conquête normande de l’Angleterre en 1066. Le designer n’a pas été jusque-là puisqu’il a brodé sur 9 mètres de long. Exposé à la Galery 1988 de Los Angeles.

Alec Lewis a london designer wanted to tell the story of Star Wars on a tapissery. Only 9 meter long it has been shown in Galery 1988 in Los Angeles,  but in cross stitch!

Harold is one of the prince and I finished the stitch last year in february

This is a particular techique of stitching I would love to stitch again soon.
