Point de croix / Cross stitch

la dame à la licorne

Since the beginning of the Christmas countdown I'm most often making ornies, cards... so I'm focusing on "the lady with the unicorn" as my main stitching project. 

When I started the dark blue it wasn't so difficult as I thought it would be so I decided to go ahead and finish the color at the bottom of the pattern. I can't say that I feel cool stitching so stressed by making a mistake counting stitches I might have to become a rank by rank stitcher!

Count your stitches, check it twice...

La période pré-avent étant déjà bien occupée par mes bricolages de Noël je me concentre sur la dame à la licorne côté point de croix.

Ayant commencé le fil bleu foncé sur le bas de la grille j'ai décidé de finir cette couleur et ai bravement compté et recompté de peur d'une erreur de placement de points. On croise les doigts cela semble bon et je reprends maintenant le remplissage de la robe.

Measi gave us a question: What is your favorite way to finish ornaments and/or smalls?

I have some nice little square pendants made with Christmas patterns. I love to have some bag/pouch you use in every day life decorated with small stitchings too.

I might have lost control with the "not so ugly" part to turn to the "too cute unicorn" so I must find a funny thing to add to this pattern and find what to put in those hands!

Newly started : I saw a pullover in a shop window with a nintendo controller so I took the idea.

to sew around Christmas stitchings waiting for a finish.

Gnomes

Le rafia enroulé sur le fil de fer fait une jolie finition pour le perchoir-balançoire.

The wire is now hidden under some raffia and I have to make a bird.

J'avais quelques boules de laine feutrée orange pas très réussie dans mon stock, elles seront parfaites pour la tête et le corps de mon piaf, puis tri de plumes pour la collerette de l'oiseau.

I had these two small felted orange wool balls (not well done but covered with small feathers) perfect for the bird body.

Voilà mon oiseau rare avec des yeux, un bec et une collerette de plumes, reste à fabriquer deux pattes et à l'installer.

J'aime bien l'allure de mon gnome écolo :  "Aksel"

Aksel, en vieux norrois signifie "roi des ours" se qui colle bien avec son bonnet à poils . Les Aksel sont des protecteurs, dans ce cas présent ce sera plus particulièrement de la nature et des animaux.

Cards

I'm starting my Christmas cards and cardboards ornies, I plan to make some patterns of the last years as the cake bell

and new shaking cards in the shape of a cup.

I have bought the new kits from Action shop with cute animals and hope to try some pop up cards like snow landscape or inside scene with a fireplace.

For Soline, as there will be Christmas on the 25th, her birthday on the 31st and the new year day, I'm thinking of a kind of half caroussel card with three little scenery, one for each event.

First there will be a room with

a pattern like wallpaper, then

I'll chose two outdoor scenes.

J'ai envie de bricoler pour Soline

d'abord une ambiance Noël

pour la journée du 25/12

puis deux scènes en extérieur

pour son anniversaire le 31/12

et le jour de l'an.

Cela me donnera l'occasion de créer

une sorte de demi-carte carrousel

ABBAYE DE FONTEVRAUD

La semaine dernière, nous sommes allés au Bois aux daims dans le Poitou. Depuis que nous profitons de nos séjours dans cette région, nous avons toujours évoqué qu'un prochain séjour nous donnerait l'occasion de visiter l'abbaye de Fontevraud. C'est fait !

Le site est impressionnant par sa taille et sa superficie. Comportant un grand cloître aux chapiteaux et tympans sculptés, de belles peintures, les bâtiments accueillent également un musée d'art moderne créé grâce aux collections de Mme et M. Cligman.

Spending some nice (swimming/bathing) time last week in le Bois aux daims in Poitou, we always wanted to visit the abbaye of Fontevraud (only a few miles away). Done!

The site is impressive in its size and scope. Featuring a large cloister with sculpted capitals and spandrels, fine paintings, the buildings also house a museum of modern art created from the collections of Mrs. and Mr. Cligman.

Well known to be the place where are buired Richard the Lionheart, Aliénor d'Aquitaine, Henry 2nd Plantagenêt and Isabelle d'Angoulême.

Bientôt l'abbaye ouvrira une exposition "l'hiver à Fontevraud"

et dans la cour se monte un décor de plantes
