A NEW BABY ALBUM 2

Baby boy or baby girl?

We'll know next April...  but for the moment I'm making a birth album.

Ten pages to prepare with old ideas as a link to the first one I made two years ago for the big brother and adding some new ones + maybe some JJ ideas.

I'm keeping the kite page...

Nouvelle version du cerf volant.

The first album had a fork nest and I have chosen this times a swallow Mum and her two kids.

Here is the woven nest

and the two babies

Au lieu du nid de cigognes
cette fois l'album va accueillir
une maman hirondelle et ses petits oisillons

Après avoir tissé ce nid d'angle
ajout de plumes de faisan de mon stock
d'une époque révolue.

I have a full bag of different feathers from a pheasant and I'm not sure I already told you the pheasant story.

I have glued some small feathers

Years ago I worked in an electrical    society and we used to invite some clients to participate to a hunt in Sologne. Usually it was the job of the boss secretary to organise every thing but one year I had to take her place and her boss used to bring her a wild bird.

That's how I found myself with a pheasant on my desk! What do you do in this unexpected situation? I called my Mum! But she wasn't a great cook and finally a collegue told me that I could give it to a charcutier who would make pâtés with it.

So proud to have found one in my one town, I called back my Mum and she asked me : "does the bird have to be plucked". I didn't thought of that! No time to loose, I had to deliver the bird after my work day and before going to the Nanny get my daughters.

Only a lunch break...  so you could have seen a crazy girl in her small car on the supermarket parking plucking a pheasant with energy and a lot of down fluttering around me.

Of course the shopkeeper told me later that it was not needed, I don't regret because every times I need feathers it gave me a good occasion to laugh about that day.

Instead of the baby bed I had the idea of a baby bath.

Again the memory of a birth card, but sometimes between the idea and find the way to do it there could be some distance.

I'm glad with the result : a vintage bath tube shape, a bath foam made with protection  , a faucet made with a handle of a chocolate umbrella.

I have cut a small bath towel with fringes (not very realistic) but I love it.

I had a train on the big brother album and for this one I chose sailing boats. You can take them off and I have add some plush sailors cut in the same serie.

Have you ever seen baby elephants flying, here they are.

Made with the same pattern that my JJ's one, a kind of pocket with a bear head button

A welcoming Teddy bear going to bed

WIPOCALYPSE 02/25

Time to share with Melissa and the Wipocalypse family the projects we want to complete before the end of the world.

On FB or  https://measi.net/

+++  2025 is the year of  "more of" +++

A few more stitches on my two WIP, more brown on the left side of the dress and more flowers on the left side of the Lady

and a new project for an April baby

More scrapbooking/JJ / Plus de cartonnage

I'll still have my homemade birthdays cards, previously shown for the GG post but a new project had joined the top of my list with the Junk Journaling it's a new baby album I'll have to prepare for a new baby coming in a friend's family.

It will be for Pierre little brother or sister so I'll make the same kind of album.

Instead of a train this time I thought of boats, then I needed a sea and thought it could be fun to be able to take off the boats from the waves to put or write something on them.

so the masts and sails will be glued and the folded rounds will be slid in.

I have a page with a baby mobil, four young elephants ready to receive pictures or informations on their backs.

There will be a nest with two babies and a swallow Mum
and a Teddy bear in his bed

More details in a future special album post with a special feathers story!

More sewing / Plus de couture

The sewing WIP is about fabric dominoes for the big brother

GIFTED GORGEOUSNESS 02/25

It's always nice to make gifts, nice too to receive some
and use them in our stitching projects.

It's great and fun to show all this and the perfect place is
on Jo's blog Serendipitous Stitching on the 15th of each month
for the Gifted Gorgeousness post.

*

Opening the post with my homemade birthday cards.

Soon this one will join my goddaughter.

March will come soon with early birthdays, so I needed a new idea for a friend and I'm thinking of a vintage disc player

When I was younger I wrote on this "vintage record" writing paper (in round of course) so I thought I could add a pocket on the top of the card with a vinyl with my wishes.

With an old pen I have designed the grooves of the vinyl record
(so many memories back...)

and a new stitched one for DD2 and DSiL3, both pleased with Japanese food, I have finished the inside.

My two stitched WIP progress, a few stitches on the skirt of Christmas carols and on the flowers of the Lady with the unicorn.

At the end of January we've got the annual DIY fair, not a lot of very interesting stalls and some prices getting totally crazy. But I was happy Zazobouzi was here this year so I could buy a new fabric gift for Pierre, I have chosen the dominoes.

I will use the same fabric with ladybugs I used for his forest story bag for the back of the dominoes and for a bag to store them.

For the baby birth I'm making an album similar then the one I made for Pierre in 2023.

I'm using the leftovers of the paper pages.

That will make a link to the big brother sharing some decorations as the kite, the musical page, the shape for the birth date for example.

For other pages, I have selected a bear in his bed, a swallow and a nest and some little sailing boats.

I have found my ready to stitch bib and I have designed "Miam Miam"
= Yummy and some small patterns looking like the fabric.

I'm making some small knittings for Soline's new shop and the right place to show them will be last Friday of February in the Smalls SAL post.

A small cross stitching for March birthdays cards.

DD2 and DSiL3 are big fans of Asian food and I have kept in mind a lovely card I saw years ago with a bowl full of noodles.

I made a first attempt on a light fabric but the pattern looked too small. Then I found these medium brown Aïda fabric perfect for my pattern size and a great color for the contrast.
