I haven't found a picture of a school game set 1960/1970, this one is a little bit older...


Clues : 78 on the tree stump,  78 sur la souche d'arbre.

The town name is St Cyr  "l'école" = school,   named cause the military famous school.

Arthur sword was a clue as new officer of the school
received this ceremonial sword.









Madam Mim's hat

The feathers on the student's hat :"shako" - casoar
are 10 white and 5 red.

Les plumes du shako, casoar porté par les étudiants sont au nombre de 10 blanches
et 5 rouges.

The academy was founded in 1802 by Napoléon and moved in 1806 to the Maison Royale de Saint Louis in Saint Cyr l'Ecole west of Paris. During WW2 the cadets moved due to the German invasion. They eventually settled in 1945 in the Coetquidan military camp in Morbihan.

La promotion 2017/2020 s'appelle Général Fourcade. The class 2017/2020 is named General Fourcade.

As a young girl I planed to become a school teacher and received this popular "game" school set in the 60's (look strange to my grandkids those days to play school).

Small notebooks, slates and chalks, blotting paper, little pictures box, absence notes.
Mini cahiers, ardoises et craies, buvard, bon points et autres billets d'absence faisaient partie des boîtes du "jeu de l'école" populaire dans les années soixante.

I love to visit this blog "what are we playing" where you can find a lot of vintage supplies for school.

3rd TOUR DE FRANCE

Ready for a new travel around France...

We'll start from Paris and travel from West to East

This year the theme is :    TOYS / GAMES

Chosen among my personal memories, maybe a little "vintage".
You'll have to find the toy or the name of the town. The characters from Disney movies will guide you and give you some clues to help you find our destination.


Nouveau jeu nouveau thème, pour cette édition ce sera les jouets.
Une pointe de nostalgie peut être dans le choix des jeux, un choix très personnel !

Il vous faut trouver le nom du jouet ou celui de la ville. Vos guides seront des personnages des films de Disney et ils vous donneront quelques indices pour vous aider dans vos recherches.

Hidden in the drawings, in dialogues they might be geographic, historical clues, sometimes little enigma,kind of riddles. I plan to post on Wednesday and Thursday, steps 1 and 2, last chance to discover on Saturday with the step 3 then on Sunday afternoon step 4/4 you'll get the solution.


Une nouvelle ville chaque semaine, étapes 1 et 2 le mercredi puis le jeudi, le samedi une dernière chance de trouver et enfin la solution le dimanche soir.

Pour compléter cette arrivée, quelques explications, photos et compléments d'informations sur les sites que nous visiterons.

Le numéro du département vous sera donné dès le premier article, n'hésitez à proposer des jouets ou le nom de villes. Les bonnes réponses resteront masquées jusqu'au dimanche.

I will give you the department number in the first step with a map and clues during two more posts. A new town each week.

You'll be welcome to propose games or name ot the town or simply post comments;
Correct answers will be withheld until the Sunday when the fourth post will show you the arrival town;

I will add some internet links to those famous places and pictures to complete the topic of the post.

Ariel will be part of my next "travel" soon on the blog. She will introduce the fifth step and give clues to discover a town on the coast...

First, I asked myself if I ever met a mermaid, none in the Channel, the only sea I ever crossed. Then I remembered the beautiful Cutty Sark I visited in 1979 in Greenwich with a wonderful figureheads collection!

Last year, I have made a mermaid for my fishing game, I got an old Barbie fish tail, so I only had to make a body, a gift cord became lovely curly hair, I added some gold threads with tiny sea shell.
