1ER MAI, ART NOUVEAU !

Happy May 1st!    Joyeux 1er mai !

Tomorrow we'll be busy sailing on the Mediteranean Sea so I have chosen this day to celebrate May, my soon to come birthday and lily of the valley.

And to post about some visits we made last December in Nancy dedicated to Art Nouveau with the Villa Majorelle and the Museum of Nancy Art Nouveau/New Art.

Great fan of the New Art, it was amazing to discover all those treasures presented in these two magnificently reconstituted places. Furniture, stained glass, lighting, earthenware.

École de Nancy, or the Nancy School, was a group of Art Nouveau artisans and designers working in Nancy, France between 1890 and 1914.

Major figures included the furniture designer Louis Majorelle, ebonist and glass artist Jacques Grüber, the glass and furniture designer Émile Gallé, and the crystal manufactory of Daum

Their work was largely inspired by floral and vegetal forms found in the region. The goal of the group was to produce in series ordinary objects, such as furniture, glassware, and pottery, with fine craftsmanship and in original forms, making art objects available for people's homes.

I love the floral and vegetal forms, like to see waterlily, annual honesty, coloquint... in lights, stained glass, furnitures.

In May do what you like!  It will be my "gift goal" this next 4 1/2 weeks to celebrate my birthday month and put first more personnal projects!
I'll continue my WIP but try to keep place for old and new DIM for myself!

Quelques idées pour ces prochaines semaines / Some ideas for those future weeks :

Scrapbooking : envelopes book,  washi tape
Aquarelle / Watercolor : Egyptian theme
Necklaces : Beads, Cross stitching for tiny patterns.
Couture / Sewing : veste/jacket,  quilt
Crochet / Wool :  Granny square test
Feutrine / Felt :  marque pages / bookmarks
