During the last school holidays I was looking for a special place to visit with the kids and found a sheep farm not too far from home showing the cycle of the wool production.
Our schedules didn't match up but I kept the idea and found a Saturday afternoon session for the two of us.
During three hours you can visit the farm, learn about the Shetland sheeps / angora goats farming (feed - care - groom).
the wool shearing and all the process to get finally a ball of wool (carding - spinning - dying).
Sandrine has a small shop too, with wool and already knitted clothing as pullovers, ponchos, scarfs, gloves, hats...

En cherchant une visite pour nos petits enfants à l'occasion des dernières vacances scolaires j'ai découvert une ferme pas trop loin de la maison avec un élevage de moutons et chèvres qui propose des journées découverte. Nos plannings ne s'accordaient pas mais j'ai pu nous réserver une session de samedi après-midi lors de laquelle Sandrine nous présente ses animaux, les soins, la tonte.
un atelier nous propose de découvrir le processus complet de la tonte à l'obtention d'une pelote de laine.
Le cadeau parfait pour moi !
I forgot to tell you that it's a career change, Sandrine used to be an ... archaeologist!
J'ai oublié de vous dire qu'il s'agit d'une reconversion professionnelle, dans une autre vie Sandrine était... archéologue !
