Point de croix / Cross stitching

I have been back on cross stitch for a few hours so some progress on my unicorn.

I'm progressing on the leg but made some navy blue and salmon stitches too.

August and September birthdays cards currently on the drawing table.

A bag and a new model with pastries...

On my list was a cute donut I saw on "Stamp Owl's" blog from Frances Byrne "Donut worry".

I want to make one, opening on birthday wishes but have to find an idea for a nice display. 

In the book I used for the baby album there were those festive designs

I didn't know what to do with. But now I do. They will be perfect for a pastry box lid.

I am cutting brown paper and felt on which I'll sewed some beads, sequins and pearl cotton for sugar tops.

En "construction" les cartes d'anniversaires pour août/septembre, un sac à main et un nouveau modèle en pâtisserie.

Ce donut trop mignon vu sur le blog de Frances Byrne me donne l'idée d'une version contenant des voeux et pour fabriquer une jolie boîte de présentation je suis ravie de pouvoir utiliser des décors proposés dans le carnet utilisé pour l'album bébé. 

Découpe de papiers marron et de feutrine sur lesquelles seront cousus des perles, sequins et coton perlé pour les garnitures sucrées.

Again weed control with the help of Mochi, DD3 young cat, in the garden. The restoration of the swing had suffered from the rain, I used  staples for a quick repair but they are opened now and I might have to sew the jean like I had for the top of the back of the seat. Nothing is well finished if not sewed!

I asked DD3 for an old pullover to get kind of a simulation which will give me an idea of the number of pieces I need.

21 hexagones déjà crochetés, les premiers sont plus petits que ceux réalisés récemment... (qui sait pourquoi) je vais les utilisés pour les manches si cela ne se voit pas trop. Avec ce pull je peux mieux estimer la quantité dont j'aurai besoin.

Question of the Month: Which are your favorite and least favorite fabrics to stitch on?

I prefer linen but the unicorn kit is with Aîda 7, anyway now that I'm not easy anymore about stitching without a magnifying glass light (because of the cataract surgery) who cares about the fabric, the problem is my eyes!

L'AMI de MALESHERBES

Pendant ce mois de juillet, nos petits enfants sont venus en visites à la maison.

Entre deux parties de boules et la garde du chat d'Eve-Amélie, nous en avons profité pour visiter avec Timothé le musée de l'imprimerie sis à Malesherbes. Plus de 150 machines à imprimer exposées dans un site de 5000 m2 !

During July, our grandchildren came to visit us.

Between two games of boules and looking after Eve-Amélie's cat, we went to visit the printing museum in Malesherbes with Timothé. More than 150 printing machines on display in a 5000 m2 site!

PAS DE TRAVERSEE DU DESERT

La conception et la réalisation de mon petit désert en feutrine s'étant étalées sur plusieurs semaines et étant dispersées dans différents articles, voici un petit récap pour mémoire.

Capucine ayant trouvé mes fabrications pour Soline à son goût et après une petite réaction envieuse, il fût convenu que je lui fabriquerai un décor pour son anniversaire. Libre à elle d'en définir le thème, sa mère et moi fûmes interloquées quand elle nous annonça qu'elle voulait : "un désert" !

Voici donc le dernier défi à relever !

Une étendue de sable (plate car les dunes s'avérèrent rapidement trop compliquées), une oasis, des plantes, palmier et cactus. Des animaux sauvages et exotiques formaient le plan de base. Auquel s'est rapidement ajouté, suite à des pensées vagabondes, un bonus "Ancienne Egypte" d'où la confection d'une pyramide, d'un sarcophage et de sa momie puis de deux égyptiens d'époque.

A little come back to my felt desert set for Capucine

The story begun two months ago showing my work for Soline to DD1 (a vegetable garden, a pond and a beach) and Capucine reacting with a touch of jealousy. Her Mum wisely advised her to ask for some felt toys for her birthday. 

And to put a notion of "you got the first place" I asked her to chose the kind of set she wanted.

No more than a few seconds after we heard an unexpected "I want a desert".

Well, that's a challenge Gran can't refuse. So desert it will be!

It appears soon that dunes will be too hard to do, so a simple flat desert with a pond for an oasis.

Vegetation : palmtree, cactus, plants.

Animals : camel, dromadary, birds, desert fox then came other species : ostrich, sloth, porcupine, anteater, armadillo.

As my thoughts wandered, I found myself on the Egyptian trail and came up with the idea for a little project featuring an Egyptian couple from the Pharaonic era around a pyramid, with the addition of a sarcophagus and its mummy.

 

It was very fun to do (as for the previous projects for Soline) and Capucine will be inventing new adventures soon.

Le temps m'a manqué pour leur fabriquer une tente de touaregs mais cela me donnera l'occasion d'enrichir mes prochains articles GG ! En commande également : un petit singe, un plant d'ananas, une loutre et un crocodile.

Not enough time to make them a Tuareg tent, but this will give me the opportunity to add it in my next GG posts! Also on order: a little monkey, a pineapple plant, an otter and a crocodile.
